Job description
This position is located in a United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Arkansas. Serves as the district Information Technology Specialist (IT Systems Manager) responsible for providing technical and analytical assistance involving three or more IT specialty areas which support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's office (USAO). The USAO IT environment includes personal computers, routers, switches, bridges, a wide area network and local area network, operating systems, case management systems and litigation support operations.Specifically, assignments encompass the following:
- Performs essential "IT Manager" tasks associated with day-to-day operation of the USAO IT systems. These duties include a wide range of information technology support technology to meet USAO information needs utilizing network hardware and software capabilities.
- Maintains network architecture and infrastructure. Configures and maintains servers, hubs, routers and switches.
- Implements policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data.
- Monitors functionality, security and integrity of internet services. Manages internet servers.
- Analyzes, defines and creates case database and litigation support specifications.
- As a technical expert, diagnoses and resolves problems in response to customer reported incidents.
- Develops and maintains USAO-levels strategic plan.
- Creates and maintains system documentation and oversees district IT projects., Specialized Experience: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Qualifying experience serving as an IT Specialist responsible for the configuration, installation, or management of network systems; installing Windows based servers and maintaining existing servers; establishing metrics to measure and evaluate systems performance; performing network diagnostics and resolving network problems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; and installing and maintaining compatible database systems. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
