Job description
Anderson School of Management is currently inviting applications for a Student Technical Specialist to work with the Anderson Information Technology team. Anderson provides a wide range of IT services to students, faculty, and staff and the Student Technical Specialists are the front line of these services. We provide extensive on-the-job training and great advancement opportunities to support the education and professional development of our student employees. The ideal candidate will be able to work at least 15 hours per week and have availability to work during regular business hours, during the evening, and/or on Saturdays, depending on the need. Students do not always work evenings or Saturdays, but coverage may be needed depending on the semester and class assignment., * Provide front-line technical support at the STSC service desk, answering inperson questions, providing phone support, conducting remote support sessions, supporting the Anderson mobile initiative, troubleshooting issues, and working within the Anderson incident management system.
- Provide technical support across Anderson's buildings.
- Support classroom and lab technology, including projectors, instructional computers, and audiovisual systems.
- Assist with maintaining computer labs, including updates, reimaging, and equipment upkeep.
- Configure and repair devices such as desktops, laptops, printers, and tablets used by Anderson faculty, staff, and students.
- Respond to and document incidents in the UNM IT ticketing system (ServiceNow), ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Support workshops, events, meetings, and training sessions by preparing technology and guiding users.
- Deliver one-on-one or smallgroup training on UNM and Anderson technologies.
- Assist with tracking and inventory of hardware, software, and supplies.

- Strong problem-solving abilities and curiosity for learning new technologies.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications; basic macOS experience a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced support environment.
- Experience with or interest in Active Directory, device imaging, or enterprise management tools (SCCM, Intune) preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Skill in diagnosing and repairing computer hardware issues.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment
- Appropriate office attire required
- Limited physical effort required (lifting up to 50 lbs)
- Limited exposure to physical risk, Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress., * Enrollment in an UNM degree program with an intention to develop a career in information technology. Preference will be given to current Anderson students.
