Job description
The Allied Health & Wellness Department at Onondaga Community College seeks adjunct instructors qualified to teach Health Information Technology. This position requires day and/or evening availability and teaching face-to-face classes on campus.
Major responsibilities include:
- Prepare and present lectures;
- Meet with students as needed to answer questions;
- Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner;
- Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams;
- Compute grades and submit them on time., * Adjunct rate of pay for the 25/26 academic year is $1,483/credit hour. Classes will be assigned on an as needed basis dependent upon enrollment.
- Adjuncts are eligible to participate in the NYS Teacher's Retirement System.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in health information management or a closely related field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency
- Active RHIA credential
- 3 years' experience in the field or closely related field., * Master's degree in health information management or a closely related field from an accredited college, university or foreign equivalency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience with electronic health records
- Experience teaching at the college level preferred.
- Demonstrated connections with local industries
- Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and other languages will be considered.
