Job description

Lockheed Martin is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with a Secret clearance to join our team in Highlands Ranch, CO.

Mission Ops & Sustainment Lead: SDA Tranche 3 Tracking layer (T3TRK) - SDA Transport Layer and Tracking Layer programs provide constellations of low earth orbit satellites and supporting ground systems as components of a sensor backbone for national security space customers.

As Mission Ops & Sustainment Lead you will:

  • Represent the Mission Operations & Sustainment (MOS) IPT in all internal and external program reviews, meetings and working groups.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of all contract deliverables according to the program Statement of Work (SOW) and program schedule.
  • Work with the MOS Control Account Manager (CAM) in achieving the MOS program cost and schedule targets.
  • Lead the development of detailed end to end operator procedures (OP) that detail out the specific operator actions needed to execute the specific mission capability using the ground software.
  • Translate manual steps from OPs into reusable python and shell scripts that will be executed during mission operations. These scripts reduce operator workload while performing the expected mission functionality.
  • Test developed OPs/Scripts on test assets using the ground software to crosscheck for expected SV functionality and validation of procedure process - this includes a feedback loop to update OP/script with testing results.
  • Lead Mission Dry Runs and Mission Rehearsals.
  • Lead real time spacecraft flight operations during Launch and Early Operations (LEOps) at the LM LEOC on the LM Waterton Campus.
  • Assist with configuration management and packaging of scripts for testing, rehearsals, and eventually launch readiness
  • Incorporate Lessons Learned from the earlier SDA Tranches into the program baseline.
  • Actively manage and communicate risks to LM Program and Chief Engineering Teams- Work with IPT leadership to assign and manage resources for proper execution.

Requirements

  • Mission Operations, ATLO, SEIT or Ground experience
  • Ability to present Misson Ops Program status to Program Management, Executive and Customer Leadership
  • Ability to take concise direction from the Mission Ops IPT Lead and execute a detailed plan from that direction with minimal oversight
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management
  • Strong Microsoft tool suite skills: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Operations or Test Procedure writing experience
  • Attention to detail/strong organizational skills
  • Capable of supporting periodic 24/7 operations during LEOps- including off-hours and weekend shifts as required
  • Ability to obtain the completion of operator training, envisioned as a certification program.

Desired Skills:

  • Flight or ground software experience
  • SDA Tranche Program experience
  • CAM trained/certified with prior CAM experience
  • Understanding of various spacecraft subsystems (GNC, propulsion, etc.)
  • Proposal, RFC and ECP experience
  • Experience working with subcontract management for both material and labor
  • Python and/or shell scripting experience
  • SW/HW testing experience

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $109,200 - $192,510. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
