Job description

Serco North America seeks a Systems Engineer with hands-on Integration and Testing experience for a fast-paced, growing, dynamic position supporting simulation and training programs for CAFDMO3 in Orlando, Florida with the Mission Operations Engineering (MOE) Team. Serco is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense. Our engineering teams perform a variety of tasks leading to successful integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex modeling & simulation (M&S) systems, enabling a worldwide distributed mission training capability.

The ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a U.S. Department of War (DoW) Secret security clearance.

The Combat Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (CAFDMO3) program is part of the US Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) program/effort that allows disparate, geographically distributed, virtual man-in-the-loop simulators to seamlessly conduct daily training exercises as well as occasional training engagements within much larger force packages.

The CAFDMO3 provides tactical warfighters training in synthetic, tactical-level, small team and Large Force Employment (LFE) training in combat environments. The primary focus of CAF DMO distributed training is on fighter/bomber tactics with supporting Command and Control and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C2ISR) assets.

In this role, you will:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems

  • Analyses performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal

  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

  • Performs integration and testing activities with contractor provided equipment and systems with various government provided systems.

  • Generates test plans, test reports, system and software problem reports, and tracks issues through resolution.

  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • A U.S. Citizenship

  • The ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DoW Secret security clearance

  • A Bachelor's degree

  • or an Associate's degree with 2 years of experience

  • or a High-school Diploma/GED with 4 years of experience

  • To meet DoD 8570 Certifications Requirements (e.g. Security+ Certification, and/or CISSP) or ability to obtain certification within 6 months

  • Experience working within formal engineering & development processes for the development of complex systems

  • The ability to compose materials such as detailed reports, work-related manuals, and publications

  • The ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions

  • To be able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours

  • The ability to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability for air travel)

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and succinct writing style

  • To be able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • The ability to travel to 25%

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Experience performing computer system and software performance analysis

  • Experience with distributed simulation protocols such as DIS, HLA, TENA

  • Experience with deployment of DoD Systems such as IFF, Radar Systems, Radio Communications, Data Links, Munitions, Electronic Warfare, Aircraft Representation

  • Ability to develop and present material outside the immediate work function
