Job description

  • Provide technical and operational support of the City's network infrastructure.
  • Provide real time monitoring and active deployment of the City's network infrastructure.
  • Provide current network documentation for LAN/WAN network.
  • Administer VPN profiles for remote user access.
  • Research, analyze and plan network upgrades, new products and peripheral equipment.
  • Research, analyze and implement networking components.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for all network components.
  • Assist with security administration.
  • Provide on-call support during off hours and holidays.

Requirements

The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting for a Network Administrator to provide top tier network maintenance, administration and access control for the City of Fayetteville's local area network/wide area network (LAN/WAN) data communications. Maintain network communication protocols to ensure the City network is available to all systems and users. To troubleshoot LAN/WAN network and communications problems. Provide daily proactive network asset and performance analysis, network access control, logging, tuning and management of all switches, routers, virtual private network (VPN) devices and firewall devices necessary for routine network operations., Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience: Two years of experience in the operation, technical management and utilization of a LAN/WAN network.

Training: Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field., From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check. An Equal Opportunity Employer
