Job description
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure Specialist - also known as a Cloud Platform Engineer, AWS Infrastructure Architect, or Hybrid Cloud Systems Engineer - to lead enterprise modernization initiatives across hybrid cloud environments. This role drives AWS infrastructure engineering, cloud migration, and platform automation for a large-scale public sector IT organization. Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design, administer, and optimize AWS hybrid cloud environments (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3) to support enterprise-grade workloads and cloud-centric operations
- Lead AWS cloud migration efforts, including legacy system assessments, modernization roadmaps, and workload readiness planning
- Enforce AWS security guardrails - encryption, MFA, IAM role boundaries, RBAC, and network segmentation - across hybrid cloud and on-premises systems
- Define Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns, collaborate on Terraform module design, and maintain IaC manifests in version-controlled environments
- Build and support CI/CD infrastructure pipelines across test, staging, and production; create release documentation and ensure platform standards consistency
- Implement FinOps practices: identify cost optimization opportunities through instance rightsizing, storage tier adjustments, and lifecycle automation
- Diagnose and resolve complex AWS identity, network, and compute issues; produce root-cause analyses, troubleshooting workflows, and long-term mitigation strategies
- Produce and maintain comprehensive documentation: architecture diagrams, platform hardening guidelines, operational guides, audit evidence packages, and executive briefings
Requirements
- AWS cloud infrastructure: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, hybrid cloud architecture
- AWS IAM / RBAC configuration and enforcement
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform (required), Ansible (preferred)
- CI/CD pipeline infrastructure and release management
- Hybrid cloud workload patterns - identity, authentication, application services across cloud and on-premises
- AWS cloud migration and legacy system modernization
- FinOps / cloud cost estimation and optimization
- Backup, disaster recovery, RTO/RPO planning
- Performance monitoring dashboards - compute utilization, storage I/O, network throughput
- Network segmentation, MFA, encryption, AWS guardrails
- Version-controlled documentation: architecture diagrams, IaC manifests, operational procedures
- Audit evidence production: configuration exports, pipeline logs, compliance documentation, * US Citizenship required
- 7+ years designing and administering AWS environments (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3)
- 5+ years hybrid cloud platform engineering across all required skill areas
- Experience with AWS IAM/RBAC and FinOps cost estimation required
- Ansible experience a plus
