Job description
The Low Cost Containerized Munition (LCCM), part of Advanced Fires Project Office (AFPO), develops, integrates, and transitions weapon systems to meet Army operational needs. We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a technical leader guiding requirements, architecture, integration, and test activities for LCCM systems. The senior engineer will provide expertise in ensuring system-level rigor, leading technical reviews, and advising government leadership on engineering risks and opportunities. This role requires a strong track record of systems engineering leadership on complex DoW programs and the ability to mentor junior engineers while driving execution across the system lifecycle.
Duties:
- Lead development and validation of system requirements and architecture for LCCM systems.
- Guide system integration efforts and oversee technical performance analyses.
- Lead technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and ensure engineering rigor across the lifecycle.
- Advise program leadership on system engineering risks, opportunities, and trade-offs.
- Oversee verification and validation planning and execution for prototypes and fielded systems.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Support development of acquisition strategies and technical readiness assessments.
Requirements
- 15+ years of engineering experience, with significant DoD systems engineering leadership.
- Demonstrated experience leading system design, integration, and test for complex defense systems.
- Proficiency in systems engineering methodologies, digital engineering tools, and MBSE practices.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with ability to brief senior Army and DoD leaders.
- Travel: 20%
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have a Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this clearance level during employment.
Education Requirements :
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
- Master's degree preferred; additional experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
Desired Skills :
- Self-starter, requiring minimal supervision, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with directed energy systems or other advanced weapon systems.
- TS/SCI
- Familiarity with Army acquisition pathways, including prototyping and rapid fielding.
- Experience leading cross-disciplinary engineering teams and coordinating with external test ranges.
