Job description

You will serve as an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) assisting Hopper Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) as an ISSM Representative. Duties include but are not limited to assistance with IT matters, technical and otherwise, involving Cybersecurity (CS) of Hopper Enterprise IT. This position is located in Suitland, MD in the HOPPER GLOBAL COMMUNICATIONS CENTER., * You will provide security policy and safeguards to personnel having access to ONI systems.

  • You will attend and participate in Division/ISSM meetings and training sessions.
  • You will seek advice from Hopper ISSM when required on highly complex and controversial program related to IT issues or problems, during the development of new techniques to identify and evaluate findings and satisfy mission requirements.
  • You will provide ISSM support in monthly Authorized Transfer Agent (ATA) actions such as approve and deny requests and sending ATA distribution emails for Quick Media Report (QMR) disposition.
  • You will perform bi-annual ATA requirements through varies communication methods: emailing all "active" Hopper ATA/PU users/supervisors verifying their continued need.
  • You will remove "inactive" users from the QMR ATA list and remove "inactive" users from the ATA JWICS Outlook Distro List.
  • You will utilize DADMS/DITPR-DON to request accounts for ISSOs as necessary and provide systems information (software/device) updates to appropriate personnel.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position has been designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position in specialty area 722 and incumbents of the position are required to comply with the DON Cyber IT/CSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M-5239.2.
  • This position performs a primary cyber work role of Information Systems Security Management (Cyber Operational), 722 per the DoD Cyber Workforce Framework.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain training and certifications as outlined in DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program., 1) Conducting interviews with users and generating requirements for new or modified IT systems/services, software and/or hardware;
  1. Assisting with managing the Privilege User (PU) and Authorized-to-Operate (ATO) process by ensuring requests are properly submitted and processed in a timely manner;
  2. Reviewing security risk alerts, security bulletins, and Information Community Vulnerability Alerts (ICVA) to manage vulnerabilities and improve operational efficiency;
  3. Monitoring daily ISSM related database/queues such as Quick Media Requests (QMR) and providing status updates to leadership;
  4. Providing guidance and oversight to users in the interpretation and implementation of security policies and procedures in accordance with organizational standards. Must have one year of IT related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
