The Senior Manager, Information Technology - Network & Telecommunication is a hands-on, dynamic leader responsible for overseeing and actively contributing to the day-to-day operations of the Network and Telecommunication team within Information Technology Services (ITS). This role provides direct management of technical staff while also serving as a senior technical resource, driving the delivery of reliable, secure, and high-performing network and telecommunications services.
Working closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and campus partners, the Senior Manager IT supports the university's academic, research, and administrative missions by implementing strategic IT initiatives, resolving complex technical challenges, and ensuring that network infrastructure aligns with institutional goals and industry best practices., Leadership & Operations
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for the Network and Telecommunications team.
- Lead and contribute to daily operational activities, ensuring stable, high-quality network and voice services across campus.
- Collaborate with the CIO and ITS leadership to plan, implement, and support strategic technology initiatives.
Network & Infrastructure Management
- Establish, maintain, optimize, and enforce processes, procedures, and technical standards for campus data networks, including LAN, WAN, wireless/mobility, and third-party managed network services.
- Monitor all phases of the network lifecycle, including short- and long-term infrastructure planning, implementation, maintenance, and replacement.
- Analyze network performance metrics and trends to proactively identify risks and opportunities for improvement.
Troubleshooting, Security & Reliability
- Investigate and resolve complex network and connectivity issues by identifying root causes and systemic barriers to service reliability.
- Assess and address network-related security vulnerabilities in collaboration with IT security partners.
- Ensure high availability and rapid resolution of service-impacting incidents through proactive monitoring and effective escalation practices.
Policy, Process & Documentation
- Recommend, document, and maintain IT policies, procedures, and best practices that improve efficiency, security, compliance, and service delivery.
- Ensure consistent application of standards and procedures across network and telecommunications operations.
Project & Initiative Management
- Execute the network and telecommunications infrastructure roadmap, including the migration of legacy PBX systems to modern VoIP solutions.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and vendor relationships; identify and mitigate risks; and communicate status, issues, and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Coordinate with campus partners, vendors, and system offices to ensure successful project delivery.
Accountability & Reporting
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize network system performance and capacity.
- Provide regular reporting on system health, incidents, project progress, and operational metrics to IT leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with university policies, security requirements, and applicable regulations.

5+ years as supervisor/manager.
