Job description
The IT Director, Commercial Technology serves as the primary IT partner to Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service, leveraging technology to enable growth, improve customer experience, and increase operational efficiency. This role owns SAP Order-to-Cash (O2C) capabilities, leads digital platforms including websites and mobile applications, supports customer EDI, and proactively identifies opportunities to apply AI, analytics, SAP innovation, and emerging technologies to solve business problems.
The role provides leadership over a team of business analysts, partners closely with external vendors, and ensures strong IT governance, processes, and delivery discipline while remaining deeply embedded with commercial business stakeholders.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Business Partnership & Strategy
- Serve as a strategic technology partner to Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service leadership, aligning technology initiatives to business goals and growth strategies.
- Proactively assess business needs, pain points, and opportunities; recommend and deliver technology-enabled solutions that improve effectiveness, scalability, and customer experience.
- Translate commercial strategy into a clear technology roadmap, balancing innovation, value, risk, and execution capacity.
- Own budget planning and financial management for commercial technology, ensuring investments align to business priorities, deliver measurable value, and operate within approved spend.
SAP Order-to-Cash Leadership
- Own and lead SAP Order-to-Cash (O2C) processes and capabilities, including order management, pricing, billing, invoicing, credit, and customer integration.
- Partner with commercial, finance, and operations teams to drive process optimization, automation, and adoption within SAP.
- Evaluate and introduce SAP enhancements, extensions, and integrations to support evolving business needs.
Digital Platforms: Web & Mobile
- Provide leadership for website development and support, ensuring platforms meet business, customer, and brand needs.
- Oversee mobile application development and support, including roadmap prioritization, delivery, and ongoing optimization.
- Ensure digital platforms integrate effectively with SAP, analytics, customer data, and supporting systems.
AI, Analytics & Innovation
- Identify and lead opportunities to leverage AI, analytics, and automation to improve sales effectiveness, marketing performance, customer service, and internal productivity.
- Partner with enterprise AI initiatives to pilot, scale, and govern AI use cases within commercial functions.
- Champion continuous improvement through emerging technologies, data insights, and new solutions.
Customer EDI & Integrations
- Own and support customer EDI capabilities, ensuring reliability, scalability, and strong collaboration with customer service teams.
- Partner with external service providers and customers to onboard, maintain, and enhance EDI integrations and data quality.
- Continuously identify and drive improvements across customer EDI processes to eliminate errors, resolve root-cause issues, and enable straight-through order processing with minimal manual intervention, ensuring orders flow efficiently without delays or rework.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of IT Analysts & Developers, fostering strong business acumen, technical capability, and delivery excellence.
- Establish clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with business outcomes.
- Promote a collaborative, customer-focused culture with high accountability.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with external vendors and system integrators, ensuring strong performance, value delivery, and alignment with company standards.
- Oversee contracts, SOWs, and service levels related to commercial technology platforms.
IT Processes & Governance
- Ensure adherence to IT governance, security, data, and compliance standards across all commercial technology solutions.
- Apply disciplined project, change, and release management practices to ensure predictable delivery and minimize business disruption.
- Contribute to enterprise architecture, roadmap planning, and cross-functional technology governance.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 8-12+ years of experience in business applications, commercial IT, or digital technology leadership.
- Strong experience with SAP, particularly Order-to-Cash processes.
- Demonstrated success partnering with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service organizations.
- Experience leading web and mobile application platforms.
- Proven people leadership experience managing business analysts or similar roles.
- Experience working with external vendors and system integrators.
- Strong understanding of AI, analytics, and emerging technologies in a business context.
- Magento Enterprise Environment: HTML, CSS experience a plus.
- Full understanding of Search Engine Optimization, Generative Engine Optimization, ECommerce Management/Merchandising Practices and Online Marketing.
- Strategic thinker with a strong execution mindset.
- Ability to translate complex technology concepts into business value.
- Strong communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
