Director of Technology

Product Partner

• Serve as the primary technology partner to Product leadership in roadmap planning, prioritization, and strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate on build vs. buy evaluations, vendor selection, and platform investments.
• Provide technical feasibility analysis and cost estimates for new features and enhancements.
• Ensure alignment between product strategy and technical architecture.
• Support iterative development processes in close coordination with Product.

IT Operations:

• Partner with Vendor Management and IT MSP to ensure continuity and security
• Partner on the day to day IT operations, infrastructure and security decisions

Application Development & Systems Integration

• Lead internal development efforts focused on workflow automation, reporting enhancements, and integrations between lending systems and credit union partners.
• Oversee development lifecycle processes, change management, testing, and release coordination.
• Support API strategy and integrations with loan origination, servicing, CRM, and document management systems.
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations through automation and technology improvements.

Information Security & Compliance

• Maintain cybersecurity controls and policies aligned with regulatory expectations for credit union service providers.
• Lead and support audit readiness as it relates to SOC2 Type 2 compliance and coordinate technology components of other internal and external audits.
• Partner with Risk and Compliance to ensure technology controls align with industry standards and guidance.

Data & Reporting Support

• Oversee data integrity, reporting tools, and internal dashboards.
• Partner with Product and Operations to improve access to actionable portfolio and operational data.

Commercial Alliance provides a comprehensive suite of lending services designed to help credit unions succeed with business members across six states. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Director of Technology professional to assist with our Strategy and Innovation Team. The Director of Technology is a hands-on technology leader responsible for overseeing IT operations and internal development for Commercial Alliance. This role ensures secure, reliable, and scalable technology operations while partnering closely with Product leadership on strategic initiatives, roadmap planning, and platform enhancements.

This is a mid-to-senior level leadership role that blends operational IT oversight with application development leadership and ability to manage a team of technology experts. The Director of Technology works collaboratively across Product, Operations, Risk, and Client Success to ensure technology supports business goals and client needs., * Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience: 6-10 years of progressive experience in IT, systems management, or technology leadership. Exposure to application development and system integration initiatives. Experience in financial services, fintech, banking, credit unions, or lending environments preferred.

Technical Knowledge:

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java, C#, Ruby, Go).
• Experience with Tines or similar automation platform
• Experience with Cribl Stream, Edge, and Search or similar data pipeline/collection platform
• Experience with Snowflake or similar data warehouse/RDBMS platform
• Linux (or access to Linux support) for any on-prem (hybrid) components
• Understanding of structured data formats (JSON, XML, CSV)
• Understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL, KQL, CQK, SPL).
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, GitHub).
• Understanding of cloud storage (AWS, GCP, Azure Blob)
