Job description
Microchip has a full-time opportunity for a Senior II - Test Engineer- at our office in Hauppauge (Long Island) NY with the NCS (Networking and connectivity Solutions) division.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following engineering activities:
Test Engineering performs various pre and post silicon activities to move new IC products through development and into volume manufacturing. This includes working with various global teams in IC design, verification, validation, Product Engineering, manufacturing, and quality to characterize, qualify, and set up manufacturing flows for new products.
- Perform test program development and ATE board design for existing and new product development activities.
Support business unit R&D and Operations teams to ensure devices are manufacturable and are set up correctly in the production system per Microchip's Quality System requirements.

Optimize and improve cost and quality of exiting products by proactively driving improvement actions in wafer fab, assembly, Probe, final test, and supply chain.

Serve as coach and technical mentor to Junior Engineers

Perform production test yield analysis investigations, root cause determination, and drive improvements.
Assist in analysis of customer returns and drive improvements in internal and external manufacturing and test processes.
Provide product level support to customer quality and applications teams to help provide excellent customer service and resolve issues.
- Create PCBs for use in IC environmental qualification.
Analyze data from various sources, create internal and external reports, and present results for device characterization, qualification, yield analysis, and various other uses.
Requirements
- MSEE (preferred) or BSEE and 5+ years of previous experience developing semiconductor integrated circuits.
Demonstrated skills in leading multi-geographic new product development/introduction teams from the concept phase through release to production.
- Experience working with customers addressing technical and logistic concerns.
Knowledge of silicon development, device qualification, silicon validation, correlation methods and test H/W & S/W development.
Skilled in statistical analysis for large amounts of data using advanced methods and tools. Experience with scripting languages and data analysis tools.

Experience with Automated Test Equipment like Diamond X, J750, Uflex or similar testers.

Must possess excellent English language verbal, written, communication, and interpersonal interaction skills.

Good understanding of digital and analog circuits from transistor level to full chip level to use in applications and systems.

Experience with bench laboratory equipment.

Hours must be flexible to accommodate lab usage and communication with global team members.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of IC packaging, testing, manufacturing process technologies.

Experience with TS16949 or IATF16949 Quality Standards.

Knowledge of ISO-26262 Automotive Functional Safety.

Experience generating test procedures and test plans.

Experience with PCB schematics, design, layout, assembly, and debug.

Experience with IC failure analysis is a plus.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 to $205,000.*
