Job description
As a Network Engineer SME, you will provide technical leadership for advanced tactical communications and information technology systems in support of critical national security missions. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Apply network engineering principles to execute technical analysis and optimization strategies for AISR Data Transport Infrastructure for DoW and mission partners.
- Architect, design, and implement advanced technical diagnostic strategies to identify, analyze, and resolve complex network performance issues across global transport systems.
- Drive the strategic planning and execution of proactive monitoring and predictive troubleshooting methodologies for satellite communication and other network environments.
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of network troubleshooting solutions, identify trends, and recommend major changes to enhance resilience and optimize AISR capabilities.
- Apply Continuity of Operation (COOP) principles to ensure continuous operational effectiveness and minimal communication disruptions across extensive globally-distributed AISR Data Transport Infrastructure.
- Develop and implement advanced solutions for end-to-end network infrastructure testing and connectivity verification.
- Collaborate and coordinate strategic-level AISR Data Transport issues with other engineering teams, Government stakeholders (e.g., DISA), and mission partners.
- Lead the development of technical documentation for advanced diagnostic strategies, troubleshooting procedures, and network incident management, setting standards for clarity and effectiveness.
- Mentor other Network Engineers and Network Administrators, fostering skill development and ensuring consistency in solution quality and adherence to best practices.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in STEM field (e.g., engineering, physics, math) and 11+ years of relevant work experience; or Master's degree in STEM field and 9+ years of relevant work experience; or Doctorate degree in STEM field and 6+ years of relevant work experience; or Associate's degree in STEM and 14+ years of relevant work experience
- Active TS/SCI security clearance required (must be able to maintain)
- Experience as a Network Engineer or similar role in support of geographically-distributed communication networks
- Ability to obtain DoD 8140 Network Operations Specialist (WRC 441) advanced-level proficiency certification within six months of assignment
- Ability to complete DoD-approved Information Assurance (IA) baseline certification for Automated Data Processing (ADP) IA Technical (IAT) level III and Computing Environment (CE) Operating System (OS) certificate within six months of assignment
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to lead collaborative teams in fast-paced environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, * Experience as a Network Engineer or similar role supporting DoD or other Federal Government customers
- Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) concepts and applications
- Possess current DoD 8140 advanced-level, ADP-III, and/or CE/OS certifications
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with Government stakeholders
- Strong technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience
- Experience conducting systems engineering, test and evaluation, modeling and simulation, and/or mission operations
