Job description

We are partnering with a leading wealth management and financial services organization based in Tempe, AZ to identify a Data Product Owner focused on building and scaling trusted master data capabilities across the enterprise.

This role sits at the intersection of business, data engineering, and governance, with a strong emphasis on execution. The team has an established data strategy and roadmap in place. and this position is responsible for driving delivery, ensuring alignment across stakeholders, and enabling adoption of high-quality, governed data products used across analytics, reporting, operations, and AI initiatives.

This is a highly collaborative, onsite role requiring strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex data needs into clear, actionable work for technical teams.

What You'll Do

  • Own and manage the backlog for master data products across key domains such as Client, Advisor, Account, Firm, and Product
  • Translate business requirements into detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria for data engineering teams
  • Partner with data governance and business stakeholders to define data standards, including golden records, survivorship rules, and quality expectations
  • Act as the primary liaison between business users, data engineers, analysts, and developers to ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables
  • Drive adoption of master data across downstream consumers including analytics, reporting, operations, compliance, and AI use cases
  • Define and track success metrics such as data quality, match rates, and downstream usage
  • Support release planning, testing coordination, and communication of updates to stakeholders
  • Break down complex data challenges into structured, actionable work aligned to enterprise goals

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional IT experience - either in a hands on development or functional role
  • Experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst supporting data platforms, analytics initiatives, or data-centric products
  • Strong Agile delivery experience, including backlog management, sprint planning, and writing user stories with clear acceptance criteria
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements for data engineering teams
  • Solid understanding of data concepts including data warehousing, data modeling, ingestion pipelines, and data quality
  • Experience working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to clearly communicate requirements, progress, and outcomes
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic to intermediate SQL skills for data validation and analysis

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience working with master data management (MDM) concepts such as golden records, deduplication, and data governance frameworks
  • Background in financial services, wealth management, or highly regulated environments
  • Exposure to enterprise data platforms or large-scale data ecosystems
  • Experience supporting data products used for analytics, reporting, or AI/ML initiatives
  • Familiarity with data quality tools, governance platforms, or metadata management tools

Benefits & conditions

Salary range: $110,000 - $130,000 base salary

Additional benefits may include comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) with company match, performance bonus, paid time off, and other standard employee benefits.
