Job description

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Systems Support Specialist for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) . Under the direction of the Manager, Space Management, this position is responsible for technical and specialized data management tasks associated with archiving, digitizing, and coding all University computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, bid documents, and as-built drawings in record management software. This position will also provide support to expand the use of Archibus space management software.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • The Office of Space Management within IP&O's Department of Planning, Development, and Design is responsible for documentation and management of all data associated with over 30 million gross square feet of owned and leased space on and off Rutgers University campuses, and the Office ensures that university space allocations are documented to accurately reflect uses associated with the University's academic, research, and clinical missions.
  • The Systems Support Specialist position is responsible for a variety of tasks including collecting, reviewing, analyzing, and loading capital and non-capital projects' bid documents, as-built drawings, and CAD files to projects and drawings record management software. All files will need to be coded for archiving and retrieval. Requirements

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of two years relevant experience, preferably working with AutoCAD and Revit.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid drivers license required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience with CAD support and incident resolution, as well as site measurement and documentation.
  • Must be computer literate and have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Candidate must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with document scanning and large-scale plotters is preferred.

Equipment Utilized

  • Proficiency in standard office equipment and Microsoft Office platform and AutoCAD required.
  • Proficiency in the use of large scale document scanners and plotters is preferred.
  • Proficiency using eQuorum or similar archiving software is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties of this position will be undertaken in a standard office environment as well as in the field.
  • The position may require travel to various campuses and off-site locations and lifting of full sets of building drawings.
