Job description

Insight Global is seeking a Web Application Security Engineer to support our client's web application security initiatives in Cleveland, OH. This role will focus heavily on managing and maintaining the Akamai platform, ensuring secure, reliable delivery of web applications across the enterprise. The engineer will work closely with both the network and security teams to configure, monitor, and optimize web application security controls, including WAF policies and protections aligned with OWASP standards. This role will partner with 4-5 onshore developers as well as an offshore team, providing guidance on security best practices and supporting secure application deployments. Day to day responsibilities include overseeing Akamai configurations, addressing security risks related to IPs and ASNs, collaborating on incident response related to web threats, and ensuring stable, secure operation of web-facing platforms. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong technical depth, clear communication, and the ability to operate effectively in a hybrid, team based environment. This role is roughly 120-145K with bonus.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience managing and supporting Akamai (platform administration and configuration)
  • Experience with Web Application Firewall (WAF) technologies
  • Solid understanding of OWASP Top 10 and common web application vulnerabilities
  • Experience working with IP addressing and ASN concepts
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Ability to collaborate closely with network and security teams
  • Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally with developers and offshore teams

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience with Node.js, React, and .NET frameworks
  • Master's degree
  • Background in network engineering
  • Experience supporting high traffic or enterprise level web applications
  • Prior experience working with globally distributed or offshore development teams
