Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join Robert Walters as a Consultant.

As a Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an assignment within our clients' organisations, in return we will provide you with the opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional support.

What You'll Do

• Develop and manage IaC modules, automation workflows with Ansible, Terraform, and Python, optimising provisioning, configuration, and integrations across VMware, Azure, and GitHub.
• Standardise automation across platform teams by creating guardrails, templates, and CI/CD pipelines to promote consistency, reusability, and scalability.
• Partner with DevSecOps and global IT division teams to pinpoint manual tasks, implement scalable automations, and eliminate inefficiencies.
• Advance the Infrastructure Automation Programme through roadmap delivery, KPI achievement, and collaboration with architecture teams on EMEA IT improvements, leveraging third-party suppliers as needed.
• Guarantee that all automation adheres to security, compliance, and organisational requirements.
• Serve as the primary escalation contact for after-hours incidents, prepared to work unsociable shifts, weekends, and stay reachable off-site.
• Proactively enhance technical expertise and build strong collaborative ties relevant to the role.

• Extensive hands-on expertise in Ansible, Terraform, VMware, and Azure and managing core infrastructure (compute, storage, networking).
• Proficient in Python, PowerShell, Git-based workflows (GitHub/GitLab), CI/CD pipelines, and contemporary DevOps methodologies
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams in highly regulated, change-controlled, and process-oriented environments.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging users, IT peers, and management.
• Dependable self-starter managing multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Customer-focused owner of issues/projects with meticulous detail under pressure.
• Collaborative resolver of emerging issues across support teams.
