Job description

Insight Global is currently looking for a Senior Backend Developer for one of our largest energy production and transmission clients in the greater Houston area. This individual will support the Power Generation and Transmission team and play a critical role in stabilizing and maintaining the Integrated Planning System (IPS). This is a hands-on developer role with strong infrastructure responsibility, combining application development and system support for a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product rather than custom-built software. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in .NET, C#, and T-SQL, along with infrastructure skills such as operating system management, security vulnerability remediation, and networking fundamentals. The initial six months will focus heavily on improving system health, performance, and stability, including support of the AFRM (facility ratings) module. Experience with AWS, Python, or Bash scripting is a plus for long-term system support and automation. This position is going to be hybrid (2/3 rotating), and can sit in Jackson, MS, The Woodlands, TX, New Orleans, LA, or Little Rock, AR. The pay rate for this position will be between $55-65/hr.

Requirements

  • Senior-level backend development experience
  • Strong experience with .NET and C#
  • Strong T-SQL / SQL Server experience
  • Experience supporting production enterprise applications
  • Infrastructure support experience, including OS management and security remediation
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals
  • Experience supporting COTS applications Ability to own system stability, maintenance, and production support

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • AWS cloud experience
  • Python or Bash scripting experience
  • Experience supporting legacy or niche enterprise systems
  • Exposure to power generation, transmission, or outage management systems
