Job description

Our team is seeking a highly motivated Engineering and Operations Systems Engineer. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary staff and team to include software engineers, electronic engineers, and Microwave Engineers. As part of Sandia¿s Electronic Warfare initiatives, you will work closely with managers, other project leads/engineers, teams and customer to help with planning, requirements, integration and communications. At any given time, you may be asked to help update development backlogs, plan for upcoming releases, support strategic initiatives and work to coordinate and integrate tasks across a team to meet project deliverables., + Employ an agile engineering approach that supports the integration and testing of Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems.

  • Support the representation of the EW Systems with customer organizations and operational organizations.

  • Track and document development progress for the EW System Development.

  • Coordinate with project leads and technical staff in the activities needed to develop, test, and deploy EW systems.

  • Integrate and coordinate with external stakeholders for the testing and operations of EW systems.

  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of technical staff in the development and deployment of EW test assets, deployment systems, and validation and verification of RF Systems., The RF & Systems Electronics Center (Center 05300) provides key electronics systems work to a wide variety of nuclear weapons, space, intelligence, and military programs across Sandia and the Nation. The Advanced RF Systems group (05330) supports the Nation¿s technology superiority strategies by delivering capabilities for RF & spectral dominance, global highly reliable communications, and novel advancements for future strength. We are a highly dynamic set of departments that cross-team to provide integrated engineering systems solutions ranging from core research through prototype development and high-end, fielded products.

The Advanced Systems department (05334) develops multi-domain novel electromagnetic attack concepts and systems with an eye on low size, weight, and power constrained applications. Our customers include a variety of government organizations including the U.S Armed Forces, the Intelligence Community, and special operations Community. Our staff members have a diverse skills base including microwave circuit design, antenna design, signal analysis, digital signal processing, embedded software, and system designs comprised of the latest associated hardware. We partner across the laboratory and the group to bring on other critical skill sets to our multi-disciplinary team to include computer scientists, systems engineers, and cyber engineers. Our design challenges include system development (designing scalable systems, systems integration into host platforms, etc.), understanding complex adversary systems and associated vulnerabilities, and signal analysis and generation of RF low probably of detect waveforms.

Security Clearance:

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants for employment need to be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance and SCI access, both of which require US citizenship. SCI access may also require a polygraph examination. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain these levels of access may be impacted.

Applicants offered employment with Sandia are subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Requirements

  • Bachelor¿s degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Military Operations or relevant field to perform S&T Program Management; or equivalent experience. Plus, five years' of relevant experience.

  • Experience in government projects and/or military operations.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance and an SCI clearance which may require a polygraph test.

Qualifications We Desire:

  • Master¿s Degree in Project Management, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant field to perform E&O Systems Engineering Functions; or equivalent experience.

  • Five years¿ experience performing leadership, technical project management or system engineering activities in either traditional approaches or agile Experience on government projects and/or military operations.

  • Experience with the IC, DoD, or Special Operations Community.

  • Ability to brief and coordinate customers and stakeholders.

  • Ability to provide and author recommendations for planning, procedures and key metrics for large projects.

  • Ability to update documentation of key deliverables to include briefing material, test procedures, or concepts of operations.

  • Experience with Electronic Warfare systems and tactical aircraft systems, Intelligence Community, and Special Operations Community.

  • Experience with leading software teams and associated technologies.

  • Active DOE Q or DoD TS Security Clearance.
