Job description

For a long-term project in the public sector (EU Digit 2030 KPM project), we are looking for several experienced COBOL Developers (m/f/d) with a focus on mainframe modernization and transformation of existing applications., * Further development and maintenance of existing COBOL-based mainframe applications

Support in the transformation and modernization of the application landscape toward cloud-based platforms
Close collaboration with the Head of IT Operations and international development teams
Analysis of existing systems and identification of optimization potential
Development and customization of programs in the IBM mainframe environment
Integration and connection of legacy systems to modern architectures
Conducting code reviews, testing, and error analysis
Participation in agile projects (Scrum / Agile)
Support in migrating applications to modern technologies (e.g., Azure-based platforms)

Requirements

Several years of experience in COBOL development
Strong knowledge of the IBM mainframe environment
Experience with SQL and DB2 databases
Knowledge of Azure DevOps or comparable tools
Experience with agile working methods (Scrum / Agile)
Ideally knowledge of VB.NET and/or C#
Experience working with complex legacy systems
Analytical thinking and a structured way of working
Teamwork skills and strong communication abilities in an international environment
