Job description
For a long-term project in the public sector (EU Digit 2030 KPM project), we are looking for several experienced COBOL Developers (m/f/d) with a focus on mainframe modernization and transformation of existing applications., * Further development and maintenance of existing COBOL-based mainframe applications
- Support in the transformation and modernization of the application landscape toward cloud-based platforms
- Close collaboration with the Head of IT Operations and international development teams
- Analysis of existing systems and identification of optimization potential
- Development and customization of programs in the IBM mainframe environment
- Integration and connection of legacy systems to modern architectures
- Conducting code reviews, testing, and error analysis
- Participation in agile projects (Scrum / Agile)
- Support in migrating applications to modern technologies (e.g., Azure-based platforms)
Requirements
- Several years of experience in COBOL development
- Strong knowledge of the IBM mainframe environment
- Experience with SQL and DB2 databases
- Knowledge of Azure DevOps or comparable tools
- Experience with agile working methods (Scrum / Agile)
- Ideally knowledge of VB.NET and/or C#
- Experience working with complex legacy systems
- Analytical thinking and a structured way of working
- Teamwork skills and strong communication abilities in an international environment
Nice to Have
- Experience in the banking or financial sector
- Knowledge of regulatory topics such as Basel III or IFRS 9
- Experience with modernization projects (legacy * cloud / microservices)
