At Roche, we aren't just managing connectivity; we're building the automated backbone of our global enterprise. We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer with expert-level routing and switching knowledge to lead the evolution of our wide-area networks.
In this role, you won't be performing repetitive manual configurations. Instead, you will bridge the gap between traditional WAN/SD-WAN engineering and modern software-defined automation, ensuring our massive-scale infrastructure is resilient, scalable, and self-healing., As a Senior Network Engineer, your daily contributions will balance architectural excellence with advanced engineering projects:
- Core Network Evolution: Lead the architecture and automation of the Core IP Fabric.
- Network Strategy & Deployment: Own the full deployment lifecycle of global network solutions, including the installation, configuration, and strategic upgrading of network components.
- Automation Engineering: Transition manual network workflows into scalable, "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) models using modern scripting and automation frameworks.
- Technical Problem Solving: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to diagnose and resolve complex network incidents, performing root-cause analysis to prevent recurrence in high-stakes environments.
- Infrastructure Optimization: Drive continuous improvement of the core fabric by analyzing global traffic patterns and peering efficiency to ensure resilient, "always-on" connectivity.
- Vendor & Peering Management: Influence the technical roadmap for networking vendors and steer product evaluations to align with long-term organizational strategy and global connectivity requirements., * Cutting-Edge Tech: Work with the latest networking and automation solutions to gain hands-on experience in managing and maintaining next-generation IT infrastructure.
- Growth Environment: A dynamic and collaborative work environment where you will have the opportunity to lead and innovate in the field of network engineering.
- Innovation-Driven Mission: Join a team dedicated to driving innovation and building the future of automated networking.
Requirements
- Expertise in Global Routing: A master-level understanding of global routing protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF) and core infrastructure services in large-scale enterprise or service provider environments.
- Modern Transport Mastery: Deep hands-on experience with Segment Routing (SR-MPLS/SRv6), MP-BGP EVPN, and VXLAN encapsulation.
- SD-WAN Architecture: Advanced background in SD-WAN architectures (specifically Cisco SD-WAN) with a proven track record of managing global overlays and integrating them with legacy MPLS or internet transports.
- Network Automation: Demonstrable experience in programming or scripting (e.g. Python) specifically for network automation and API integration.
- Strategic Communication: Proven ability to translate complex backbone architectures into clear, actionable strategies for senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
- Education & Certification: Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred; CCIE-level certification (Service Provider or Enterprise) or equivalent deep industry expertise is highly desirable.
