Job Title: Infrastructure/Deployment Engineer

Start: ASAP

Contract Length: 3 months

Job Description

This role offers the opportunity for a Infrastructure/Deployment Engineer to support an ongoing project focused on deploying and maintaining core infrastructure. You will work across hardware, operating systems, and server environments, contributing to reliable, secure, and efficient infrastructure services. The role involves travelling between sites to carry out server builds, operating system installations, and hardware/software deployment tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Support an ongoing infrastructure project by assisting with the deployment and configuration of hardware and software components.
  • Perform hardware deployments, including installing and configuring Servers and related equipment.
  • Install and configure operating systems, including Linux and Windows, on physical and virtual servers.
  • Build and configure new Servers to agreed specifications and standards.
  • Carry out hardware troubleshooting to identify, diagnose, and resolve faults in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for Linux and Windows server environments, including basic administration and maintenance tasks.
  • Ensure that all installations and builds follow defined procedures and best practices.
  • Document configurations, installation steps, and changes to support future maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth implementation of infrastructure changes into the live environment.
  • Contribute to maintaining a stable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in hardware troubleshooting within an infrastructure or similar technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux operating system installation and basic configuration.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows operating system installation and basic configuration.
  • Practical experience in server support, including building and configuring servers.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and standards when deploying hardware and software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with technical colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail when performing installations, configurations, and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • experience working on structured infrastructure deployment or upgrade projects.
  • Familiarity with both physical and virtual server environments.
  • Ability to document technical work clearly for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies, and processes.
  • Any relevant technical training or certifications in infrastructure, servers, or operating systems (if held) will be beneficial.
