Job description
Hinge Health is expanding its digital physical therapy (PT) offerings into comprehensive musculoskeletal care through the launch of HingeSelect. This new initiative enables members to self-select into in-person visits, specialist referrals, and other care pathways, thereby offering a more personalized and flexible care experience. As we scale this innovative service, we are seeking a highly skilled Staff Product Data Scientist to establish the measurement and experimentation foundation necessary for data-driven growth. This role is pivotal in turning product investments into measurable outcomes by diagnosing bottlenecks, designing experiments, and modeling complex supply-demand interactions within the care network.
The ideal candidate will be deeply technical, fluent in AI-assisted development, and capable of defining end-to-end data architecture from scratch. They will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure robust instrumentation, causal analysis, and actionable insights. This is a 0-to-1 role, meaning you will be the first dedicated data scientist on the HingeSelect discovery and visits experience, shaping the analytical framework that guides strategic decisions and optimizations.
You will have the opportunity to work with a modern tech stack including Python, SQL, dbt, Mode, Databricks, Airflow, Statsig, and AWS. Your contributions will directly influence product strategy, operational efficiency, and patient engagement, making a tangible impact on healthcare delivery and patient well-being., * Develop and implement the measurement and experimentation foundation for HingeSelect, covering instrumentation design, causal analysis, and metric reporting
- Identify and diagnose conversion bottlenecks across the product funnel (discovery, selection, scheduling, visit completion) and collaborate with Product teams to prioritize solutions
- Design and execute experiments with causal guardrails to evaluate incremental impact while preventing cannibalization of existing services
- Model supply-demand interactions, including provider capacity, geographic coverage, and member demand, to inform network strategy and capacity planning
- Define the data architecture for HingeSelect from scratch, including event taxonomy, data models, and metric definitions to enable reliable downstream analysis and AI integration
- Create and maintain dashboards and self-service tools to provide real-time visibility into funnel performance and experiment outcomes for cross-functional teams
- Advocate for best practices in upstream instrumentation, working closely with Engineering to ensure consistent event capture and schema standards
- Apply machine learning and predictive modeling techniques to forecast member behavior, segment demand, and identify high-value intervention points
- Write production-quality code using AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, and Copilot to accelerate data pipeline and model development
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in Data Science, Product Analytics, or similar roles
- Proficiency in Python and SQL with experience building end-to-end analytical solutions
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests and causal inference methods (e.g., difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, synthetic control)
- Strong background in defining metrics, building data models, and establishing measurement frameworks in ambiguous environments
- Proven experience productionalizing data models and ETL pipelines
- Ability to leverage AI-assisted coding tools for rapid development and prototyping
Benefits & conditions
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, including support for gender-affirming care and fertility planning
- Travel reimbursements for healthcare services outside your local area
- Retirement savings options with a 2% company match through traditional or Roth 401(k) plans
- Modern stipends for learning, development, and personal growth
- Discounted company stock through Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
- Flexible hybrid work model requiring in-office presence three days per week
