In this Senior Director, Digital Transformation Global Engineering vital role, as an enterprise leadership role you will be responsible for defining and executing Engineerings digital and data transformation strategy. This role will lead the transition from fragmented digital initiatives to a scalable, data-centric operating model, enabling a robust digital thread across the asset lifecycle andestablishingthe foundation for AI-enabled engineering.

The role owns Engineering data governance and digital transformation execution, ensuring that engineering data is treated as a strategic assetgoverned, standardized, and embedded within systems of record. This leader will drive enterprise alignment whilemaintainingglobal Engineering accountability, partnering closely with Digital Technology Information Systems (DTI), AI teams, and Global Capability Centers (GCCs).

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Digital & Data Strategy Execution

  • Define and execute the Global Engineering digital transformation (EDT) roadmap aligned with enterprise priorities and data strategy.
  • Translate strategy into scalable capabilities, prioritizing high-value data domains including asset management, project, maintenance, and EHS.
  • Establish Engineerings digital operating model by integrating product, data, and platform strategies.

Engineering Data Governance & Ownership

  • Lead and operationalize Engineering data governance, including master data, reference data, metadata, and data quality standards.
  • Establish and lead an Engineering data champion model across functions.
  • Define data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworks aligned with enterprise governance.
  • Drive adoption of FAIR data principles across Engineering.

Digital Thread & System Integration

  • Lead implementation of the Engineering digital thread across capital projects and the asset lifecycle.
  • Ensure structured digital turnover into enterprise systems of record.
  • Drive integration across SAP Enterprise Asset Management (EAM), Product and Portfolio Management (PPM), Building Information Modeling (BIM) / Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Sphera Software Solutions, and related enterprise platforms.
  • Ensure alignment with clean core principles and enterprise architecture standards.

Transformation Program Leadership

  • Lead a global team responsible for delivering transformation programs and strategic initiatives.
  • Establish strong governance, performance metrics, and execution discipline.
  • Drive measurable value creation in areas such as reliability, capital efficiency, and compliance.
  • Govern innovation pipelines and AI use cases to ensure scalability and business impact.

Cross-Functional & Enterprise Partnership

  • Partner closely with Digital Technology & Innovation, AI teams, and enterprise data organizations.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and EHS to drive aligned execution.
  • Define and operationalize Global Capability Centers (GCC) as a core engine for digital, data, and AI capability delivery.
  • Establish scalable global delivery models that improve speed, consistency, and cost efficiency.

Change Leadership & Adoption

  • Drive adoption of standards, SOPs, and GDEs across the global organization.
  • Lead change management efforts to support transformation at scale.
  • Build digital and data literacy to strengthen organizational capability and adoption.

People Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Create a long-term capability strategy to support sustained transformation and growth.

Requirements

Doctorate degree and 5 years of Engineering, Operations and/or Digital Technology experience OR Masters degree and 9 years of Engineering, Operations and/or Digital Technology experience OR

Bachelors degree and 11 years of Engineering, Operations and/or Digital Technology experience AND

In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 5 years of experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above., * 15+ years of leadership experience in engineering, digital, data, or technology within pharma or biotech.

  • Proven track record leading enterprise digital transformation in complex, global organizations.
  • Expertise in enterprise platforms, data governance, and scalable digital solution delivery.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across senior leaders and cross-functional matrix teams.
  • Understanding of engineering operations, GxP environments, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience applying AI/ML, advanced analytics, digital twin, BIM, and FAIR data principles to drive innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into high-impact digital capabilities.
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma experience with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Global mindset and flexibility to collaborate across regions and time zones.

Benefits & conditions

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
