Job description

We are looking for a Level 2 Support Engineer to join a growing engineering team supporting secure, on-premises IT environments.

This is a hands-on, dual-role position, primarily based on-site, where you'll be responsible for maintaining infrastructure, supporting users, and ensuring the smooth operation of critical systems. You'll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support wider project activities when required.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting and maintaining a secure IT environment, including:

  • Monitoring, maintaining, and supporting:

  • VMware infrastructure

  • Microsoft Server 2022 (including Active Directory, DNS)

  • Windows 11 desktops and third-party applications

  • Anti-virus solutions and system security

  • Basic networking and local area networks

  • Backup systems

  • Proactively monitoring systems, identifying issues, and resolving faults

  • Logging, tracking, and managing support tickets through to resolution

  • Working closely with customers to support their on-premise IT solutions

  • Contributing to continuous improvement, service reviews, and best practices

  • Collaborating with engineering teams across multiple projects

Requirements

  • Strong background in user support and application troubleshooting

  • Experience supporting and maintaining:

  • Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments

  • VMware infrastructure

  • Local area networks and basic networking

  • Security appliances

  • Experience working in highly regulated or controlled environments

  • Ability to follow processes, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Strong communication skills, especially when dealing with end users

  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage tasks effectively

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail

  • A collaborative team player who can build strong working relationships

Desirable Experience

  • Experience with SIEM tools (Security Information and Event Management)

  • Previous experience working in secure environments

  • Full UK driving licence
