Job description
- Lead installation, configuration, and optimization of network infrastructure including routers, switches, and wireless systems
- Perform advanced configuration of VLANs, routing, and network segmentation
- Oversee Cisco IOS upgrades, validation, and configuration management
- Ensure proper configuration and maintenance of remote management access
- Maintain and validate network architecture documentation and configuration standards
- Lead complex office moves, infrastructure upgrades, and network reconfigurations
- Oversee implementation of network changes, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
- Support and coordinate troubleshooting and maintenance of WAN and telecommunications circuits including DWDM environments
- Coordinate with telecommunications providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders for installations and issue resolution
- Utilize advanced network management tools and diagnostic equipment
- Provide escalation support for high-priority (P1/P2) incidents and complex network issues
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution for recurring or critical issues
- Ensure alignment with OCIO response and resolution targets
- Coordinate with Project Manager and OCIO for high-impact incidents
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of network documentation, diagrams, and configuration records
- Review and validate documentation produced by engineering staff
- Support preparation of operational reports and performance tracking
- Ensure compliance with documentation, audit, and configuration management requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Systems Engineer Level II staff
- Serve as primary technical liaison with OCIO stakeholders for engineering activities
- Support planning, coordination, and execution of network changes and upgrades
- Ensure consistent communication and alignment across teams
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience supporting enterprise network and infrastructure environments
- Advanced experience with Cisco networking technologies including routing, switching, and VLAN configuration
- Experience supporting WAN environments and telecommunications circuits including optical/DWDM
- Experience leading network installations, upgrades, and infrastructure changes
- Strong experience with network troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Experience working within ServiceNow ticketing system
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Active or must be able to obtain Public Trust, * Cisco certification (CCNP or higher preferred)
- Experience in federal or enterprise IT environments
- Experience supporting large, multi-site network environments
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools
- Knowledge of ITIL-based service management practices, While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to grip, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. - Amount of Travel:Less than 10%, Target salary range: $98,000.00 - $130,000.00. The salary range displayed is an estimate and will be determined on several factors regarding the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies and experience, as well as contract parameters and organizational requirements. The displayed salary is one component of the total compensation package for employees.
