Job description
The Cash Application Analyst is responsible for researching, analyzing, and resolving unapplied and unidentified cash payments. This role ensures accurate application of customer payments, maintains clean accounts receivable balances, and supports timely financial reporting. The specialist works closely with internal teams and external customers to resolve payment discrepancies efficiently., * Research and resolve unapplied, unidentified, and misapplied cash payments.
- Apply customer payments accurately to open invoices in the accounting system.
- Investigate payment discrepancies including short pays, overpayments, and deductions.
- Communicate with customers regarding payment details and discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Collections teams.
- Maintain documentation of research and resolution activities.
- Ensure unapplied cash balances are resolved within established timelines.
- Assist with month-end close and account reconciliations.
- Follow internal controls and accounting policies.
- Identify process improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- 2+ years of accounting experience (reconciliations, general accounting, accounts receivable).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Epic experience, specifically running reports on how cash was posted.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP).
- Familiarity with ACH, wire, lockbox, and remittance processing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oceanport, NJ. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $36.05/hr.
