Job description

Come join an exciting team in a growing industry! We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of EDI processes and standards, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange between our organization and external partners. The EDI Specialist will play a crucial role in optimizing data workflows, troubleshooting EDI issues, and implementing improvements to enhance overall efficiency.

Go-to-Market Strategies, Customer Advisory, and System Integration:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of go-to-market strategies for EDI solutions to increase market presence and utilization rates.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop targeted campaigns that highlight the value of EDI solutions for existing and potential customers.
  • Provide support and advisory services to customers regarding the benefits and usage of EDI solutions.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their requirements and develop tailored solutions that align with their business processes.
  • Create and use evaluations and reports on the utilization and effectiveness of EDI solutions.
  • Analyse usage data to identify trends and provide recommendations for optimizing the EDI strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with IT teams to integrate EDI processes into existing systems and applications, promoting seamless data exchange and minimizing errors.
  • Support and optimize existing EDI connections in close coordination with customers and service providers, considering internal interfaces and processes.
  • EDI Implementation: Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to implement and maintain EDI solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and business requirements.
  • As a LAPP EDI specialist and member of the Global HQ´s Digital Sales Team, you will implement EDI integration projects with our customers and LAPP subsidiaries worldwide to further expand the EDI sales channel successfully.
  • Initiation, global coordination, and joint implementation with the SAP team regarding necessary SAP enhancements (IT demands, requirements, and dependencies) for an excellent internal and external EDI customer experience.

System Integration: Work closely with IT teams to integrate EDI processes with existing systems and applications, fostering streamlined data exchange and minimizing errors.

  • You will support and optimize existing EDI connections in close coordination with customers and service providers, considering internal interfaces and processes.
  • Technical evaluation and implementation of EDI-related services or alternatives (e.g. API).

Testing and Validation: Conduct comprehensive testing of EDI processes to identify and resolve issues, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with standards. Perform validation checks to verify successful data transmission.

Issue Resolution: Investigate and troubleshoot EDI-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address and resolve issues promptly. Implement preventive measures to minimize future problems.

Analyse individual customer requirements and create concepts for tailor-made solutions in close coordination with external EDI provider, internal LAPP IT and the SAP S/4 HANA key users. Ensure together with HQ´s team members the successful implementation of complex requirements.

Documentation: Create and maintain extensive documentation for EDI processes, configurations and workflows. Provide training and support to internal staff regarding EDI usage and best practices.

  • Robust and global EDI multi-project management including the development of a future global documentation standard for connectivity projects.
  • Support to create a resilient IT structure to ensure EDI processes for unpredictable challenges.

Communication: Foster effective communication with external partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to facilitate smooth EDI transactions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent working experience.
  • 3+ years proven experience as an EDI Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in EDI formats (e.g. EDIFACT, VDA, ANSI X12, etc.) and experience with EDI software and tools
  • Strong understanding of data mapping, translation, and integration.
  • Knowledge about market-standard file formats and usage of EDI mappings.
  • Working knowledge of SAP ERP system and integration methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills through professional communication, strong work ethic, and positive attitude
  • Excellent technical, problem-solving, project management and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Growth mindset - sense for trends and how existing processes can be expanded and further developed.
  • Intercultural experience with global customers and colleagues.
  • Desirable: experience in vendor and contract management for (global) EDI service providers.
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
  • Travel may be required up to 20%.
