Job description

  • In my position as a Senior Data Architect, I will engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand data requirements and document data journeys. I will develop data policies, processes, and models to support metadata, reference data, and service delivery. My responsibilities also include:
  • Designing and assuring data solutions across the full lifecycle, ensuring compliance with strategy, standards, and impact assessments.
  • Championing data architecture within HMLR and contributing to cross-government data communities.
  • Leading and developing a small team of associate/data architects while providing expert advice to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • As a Senior Data Architect at HM Land Registry (HMLR), I am looking for individuals who possess the following essential criteria:
  • Strong stakeholder communication and problem-solving skills to bridge technical and non-technical needs, manage expectations, lead difficult discussions, and ensure issues are investigated, resolved, and prevented.
  • Proven skills in data analysis and innovation, including profiling and analyzing data, providing clear insights, and staying ahead of emerging tools, techniques, and trends.
  • Knowledge of data governance and standards, including defining governance frameworks, setting and enforcing data standards, and assuring integration across business services.
  • Experience in data modeling and design, creating and aligning models across subject areas, applying recognized patterns, and designing architectures that address complex business problems.
  • Skills in metadata and repository management, including building and overseeing metadata repositories, advising on tools, and mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Experience in mentoring data professionals, helping to build capability and support development of individuals and teams.
  • Experience in undertaking data impact assessments and ensuring compliance with data policies and standards.
  • Desirable criteria also include:
  • Previous public sector experience and an understanding of data in government.
  • Experience in building, maintaining, and managing relationships with external stakeholders and communities, such as the Geospatial Commission or Government Data Architecture Community.
  • Knowledge of data architecture concepts such as data warehousing or data mesh.
  • Experience with geospatial data and Master Data Management (MDM) concepts.

Benefits & conditions

I offer a competitive salary ranging from £57,400 to £64,300, with an opportunity to increase to £71,300, along with a 29% employer pension contribution and various other Civil Service benefits. My work setting is flexible, with hybrid working options available in Plymouth, Weymouth, or Gloucester.
