Job description

Under the general direction of the Director of Information Technology, the Database Administrator supports the SmartCare/MIS system in the day-to-day operations of the Information Systems department., Performs highly complex database administration work. Work involves planning, developing, maintaining, and monitoring integrated database systems and maintaining data integrity. Conducts user training for Center staff and maintains a library of all information systems documentation relating to electronic records. Evaluates and recommends goals and objectives for the use and improvement of EHR by collaborating with the TxACE group. Adheres and upholds policies and procedures of the information systems department. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care throughout the agency, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and a safe and respectful environment for all individuals served and staff. Requirements

Minimum Requirements: Must have High School Diploma or GED and an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in computer science, business information systems or related field. Two years paid related experience (SQL, SSRS, and database management). Must have current driver's license and be insurable under Center insurance. Must pass and maintain all Center-mandated trainings.

Preferred Qualifications: Four years of related experience in a Microsoft environment managing Windows Server and SQL Server, and developing applications using T-SQL, Visual Studio, NET, HTML, CSS, Java Script, and SSRS. Experience with IIS, VPN, RDP, and SSIS. Knowledge of Streamline SmartCare or other web-based EHR application. Experience working in behavioral health or healthcare environment following HIPAA and PHI guidelines. Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business information systems or a related field substitutes for two years required experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Skilled to troubleshoot and solve complex business problems
  • Knowledge of the Texas Mental Health System and how automated information systems operate in that environment.
  • Skill to develop programming code using SQL, JavaScript, .NET, HTML, and Visual Basic.
  • Ability to relate to verbal instructions, communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, consumers and families, agencies and the public.
