Job description
You will develop new methods at the intersection of artificial intelligence and statistical science, inspired by challenges in biomedical research. You will have considerable freedom to build your own research line and will work closely with clinicians and biomedical researchers from other LUMC departments. In doing so, you will provide expertise and advice on AI methodology and statistics. You will also teach both theoretical and practical aspects of AI methodology to PhD and master's students.

You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with researchers outside your own field. You also actively share your knowledge, both in collaborative work and in teaching, and contribute to an inspiring learning environment.
In addition, you have:
· A PhD in artificial intelligence, computer science, (bio)statistics, computational biology, bioinformatics, physics or another quantitative field.
· Several methodological publications in the field of AI, machine learning, statistics or biomedical data science.
· Experience with complex, large datasets, such as omics, imaging, electronic patient records or other forms of high-dimensional data.
· Strong programming skills in Python and/or R and experience with modern AI/ML frameworks.
· Preferably experience with HPC environments and workflow tools.
· Teaching experience and a University Teaching Qualification (BKO), or the willingness to obtain one.
· Excellent command of the English language
Benefits & conditions
· As Researcher and Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence in Biomedical Research, your salary will be a minimum of €3,598 and a maximum of €7,424 gross per month (scale 10, 11 or 12, CAO UMC). These amounts are based on full-time employment.
· The appointment is for a period of 3 years.
