Job description

As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be the central point of contact for IT issues across our pharmacy network. Acting as the bridge between our branches, head office, and our external IT support provider, you will ensure that technical problems are logged, escalated, and resolved efficiently. Your work will help keep our pharmacies running smoothly and ensure staff have the tools they need to deliver excellent patient care., * Serve as the first point of contact for IT issues raised by branch and head office staff.

  • Log, track, and manage support tickets through to resolution, ensuring accurate updates and documentation.
  • Liaise directly with our external IT provider to escalate issues, follow up on progress, and ensure timely fixes.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware and software problems, including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and pharmacy systems.
  • Support the setup, configuration, and deployment of new devices and user accounts.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of branch IT environments to help diagnose recurring issues.
  • Communicate clearly with staff regarding issue status, expected resolution times, and any required actions.
  • Assist with IT-related projects, upgrades, and process improvements across the organisation.
  • Ensure all IT support activities meet internal standards and agreed SLAs.

Requirements

  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience providing desktop or technical support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
  • Good understanding of Windows operating systems, basic networking, and common office applications.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a multi-site organisation.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy systems or healthcare IT environments.
  • Understanding of Active Directory, user account management, and device configuration.
  • Experience coordinating with external IT support providers or MSPs.
  • Knowledge of basic network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi, routers, switches).
