Field IT & Network Engineer Allied Pharmacies Ltd - Cowley, Oxford Full-time About Allied Pharmacies Allied Pharmacies is a UK pharmacy group providing healthcare services to communities across England and Wales. Established in 2005, the business partners with independent pharmacists and operates a growing network of pharmacies delivering prescription services, healthcare advice, and NHS-funded treatments. As we continue to expand our pharmacy network, we are investing in our IT infrastructure to ensure every site is connected, reliable, and ready to serve patients. We are now looking for a hands-on Field IT & Network Engineer to support installations and network builds across our locations. Role overview The Field IT & Network Engineer will be responsible for the physical installation, cabling, and commissioning of IT and networking equipment across Allied Pharmacies locations throughout the UK. This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to pharmacy sites. You will work independently and as part of small project teams to deliver clean, professional installations to a high standard, ensuring sites are fully operational on handover. Key responsibilitiesInstallation & cabling Install and terminate structured cabling (Cat5e / Cat6) across pharmacy sites Run and manage cable routes including trunking, containment and patch panels Install and mount network equipment including switches, routers, access points and patch panels Install and configure workstations, monitors, printers and peripheral devices Install and commission EPOS hardware and till systems at pharmacy locations Ensure all installations are neat, labelled and documented to a professional standard Networking & connectivity Configure and test network switches, routers and wireless access points Set up and verify broadband and WAN connectivity at new and existing sites Troubleshoot network faults and connectivity issues on-site Support VLAN configuration and basic network segmentation On-site

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Network installation?, support & commissioning Commission sites end-to-end, ensuring all hardware and connectivity is fully tested before handover Provide on-site IT support during fit-outs, refurbishments and new pharmacy openings Liaise with pharmacy staff and site managers during installation visits Escalate any complex issues to the Lead IT Engineer or IT management Documentation & compliance Maintain accurate records of installations, cable schedules and site configurations Complete site sign-off documentation and handover reports Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations and company standards Skills & experience Essential Proven experience in a field-based IT or network installation role Practical skills in structured cabling - termination, testing and containment Experience installing and configuring networking equipment (switches, routers, WAPs) Experience setting up and deploying end-user hardware (PCs, laptops, printers) Ability to work independently across multiple sites with minimal supervision Full UK driving licence - essential for this role Strong attention to detail and pride in the quality of installations Good communication skills when dealing with on-site staff and stakeholders Desirable Experience with EPOS or retail hardware installations Experience within healthcare, pharmacy or retail environments Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals (subnetting, VLANs, DHCP) Relevant certifications (CompTIA Network+, City & Guilds cabling, or similar) First fix / second fix electrical awareness Location - Allied Pharmacies - Cowley, 17 Ivy Close, Cowley, Oxford, OX4 2NB. Regular travel to pharmacy locations across the UK is required. A company vehicle or mileage allowance will be provided.
