Job description

We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect Manager to lead the design and governance of enterprise data architecture while managing a small, high-impact team. This role blends technical architecture with leadership, making it ideal for someone who has grown from a senior data engineer or architect into a team lead or manager.

You'll play a critical role in shaping how data flows across the organization-from core transactional systems into a modern cloud-based analytics platform-while ensuring scalability, performance, and governance across the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Design

  • Define and implement enterprise data architecture standards across modeling, integration, and governance
  • Design scalable data models within a modern lakehouse architecture (multi-layered data environments)
  • Establish canonical data models and semantic layers to support analytics and reporting
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, and security standards are enforced across platforms

Databricks & Cloud Platform

  • Lead architecture within a Databricks-based environment, including Delta Lake and cataloging frameworks
  • Partner with engineering teams to optimize batch and streaming data pipelines
  • Guide best practices for performance tuning, ingestion, and transformation processes
  • Align architecture with a cloud-first ecosystem (Azure-focused environment)

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers/architects (typically 3-5 direct reports)
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance while setting direction and priorities
  • Review and approve data models and architectural decisions across teams
  • Influence stakeholders across engineering, analytics, and business groups

Enterprise Data Integration

  • Design data models aligned to core business domains such as finance, supply chain, and operations
  • Work with large-scale ERP data sources and enterprise systems
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data architecture solutions

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture or data engineering
  • Proven hands-on experience with Databricks (Lakehouse, Delta, etc.)
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred)
  • Deep understanding of data modeling (dimensional, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Strong SQL and Python expertise
  • Experience with enterprise data environments and large-scale systems
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (team lead, manager, or technical lead)

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with ERP data (finance, supply chain, logistics domains)
  • Exposure to modern data integration tools (Fivetran, Informatica, etc.)
  • Experience supporting BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
  • Exposure to AI/ML data architecture concepts

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule (currently more remote, transitioning to 1-2 days onsite)
  • Direct hire opportunity with leadership responsibilities
  • High-visibility role within a growing data organization
  • Hands-on leadership culture-leaders are expected to stay close to the technology
