Job description

2nd Line IT Support Engineer £30,000 - £35,000 Onsite (5 days)

I'm working with a growing business looking to bring in a strong 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to support their internal environment and play a key role in keeping things running smoothly day to day.

This isn't just a ticket-queue role - you'll be hands-on, taking ownership of issues end-to-end, and getting exposure to a broader infrastructure environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Providing 2nd line support across hardware, software, and systems
  • Acting as a key escalation point for 1st line, but also owning issues through to resolution
  • Troubleshooting across Microsoft environments (Windows, M365, Active Directory)
  • Supporting users onsite and remotely with a mix of BAU and more complex issues
  • Getting involved in infrastructure-related tasks (servers, networking basics, access management)
  • Contributing to documentation and improving how support is delivered

What they're looking for:

  • Solid 2nd line experience with a strong troubleshooting mindset
  • Someone who takes ownership and sees problems through, not just passes them on
  • Good experience across Microsoft environments (Windows, O365, AD)
  • Exposure to networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, basic connectivity issues)
  • Strong communication skills - comfortable working with users at all levels
  • Someone proactive who enjoys improving things, not just firefighting

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to Intune/endpoint management
  • Any experience with virtualization or cloud (Azure/AWS)
  • Some Scripting or automation interest (PowerShell etc.)

This role would suit someone who's looking to step up, take on more responsibility, and develop towards a more infrastructure-focused position over time.

If this sounds like you (or worth a chat), apply online or drop me a message on LinkedIn ??
