Job description

The Associate Technical Trainer plays a key role within a corporate university environment, delivering high-volume technical training to adult learners in the telecommunications and data center domains. This 100% in-person, onsite contract role focuses on facilitating structured training programs, supporting learner success, and contributing to the deployment of next-generation infrastructure technologies. The trainer spends at least 75% of their time delivering instruction and serves as a role model for professionalism, technical excellence, and collaborative teamwork., * Facilitate employee training and onboarding using approved curriculum and training materials.

  • Deliver technical instruction through lectures, hands-on activities, labs, and various assessments to support different learning styles.
  • Provide remediation, coaching, and support to learners to ensure they achieve required learning outcomes.
  • Consult and collaborate with other trainers, managers, stakeholders, and leadership to align training with operational needs.
  • Track, compile, and analyze training data to produce accurate training reports and metrics.
  • Document employee performance, assessment results, and training outcomes in a clear and timely manner.
  • Review, test, and provide constructive feedback on existing and new training materials to improve content quality and effectiveness.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain training facilities, including daily setup, equipment readiness, and basic cleaning to ensure a professional learning environment.
  • Stay current on the latest data center tools, telecommunications technologies, and infrastructure best practices to keep training content relevant.
  • Coordinate and monitor learner enrollment, class rosters, and training schedules to ensure smooth program delivery.
  • Develop and coordinate detailed training schedules that align with operational timelines and resource availability.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, and feedback sessions to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the conceptualization, design, and development of new training materials and learning experiences.
  • Communicate training needs, available courses, and online learning resources to learners and stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Participate in mentorship and professional development opportunities provided by Trainers to continuously improve instructional skills.
  • Explain complex, technical, or sensitive information in a clear, respectful, and accessible manner to diverse audiences.
  • Travel as needed to deliver training or support training initiatives at other locations.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in a technical field such as telecommunications, data centers, electrical work, or similar trades.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex tasks and technical concepts to others, such as experience as a field lead, trainer, or peer mentor.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for clear instruction and effective collaboration with learners and stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills for documenting performance, creating reports, and providing feedback on training materials.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with various levels of management and cross-functional teams.
  • Solid organizational skills and an inquisitive mindset to manage multiple classes, schedules, and learner needs.
  • Willingness to obtain telecommunications industry certifications, such as BICSI, within the first 12 months of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification., * Experience working in telecommunications or data center environments, with familiarity in related tools and infrastructure.
  • Experience in technical trades such as electrical or similar fields that support hands-on instruction.
  • Experience delivering adult learning programs, onboarding, or technical training in a corporate or field setting.
  • Ability to collect, interpret, and present training data and metrics to support continuous improvement.
  • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven training environment with predefined curricula and standards.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor suitable for representing the training organization to learners and stakeholders.
  • Interest in ongoing professional development, including mentorship from trainers and staying current with industry best practices.

Work Environment

This role is 100% in-person and onsite within a corporate university-style training environment focused on telecommunications and data center operations. The work involves frequent use of computers and standard office productivity tools, particularly Microsoft Office applications, as well as interaction with training lab equipment and data center-related tools. The trainer spends the majority of the workweek delivering instruction in classroom and lab settings, with additional time dedicated to preparation, documentation, and facility setup. The environment is collaborative, with close interaction among trainers, subject matter experts, managers, and other stakeholders to support high-quality training delivery. The role may require occasional travel to other sites to deliver training or support training initiatives. The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
