Job description

The location of this position will be in the following county: Kanawha. Requirements for this position include but are not limited to:

  • A valid driver’s license OR State issued ID and dependable transportation are required.
  • IF APPLICABLE: Travel to various State Agencies to perform work and maintain accurate mileage records.
  • Regular attendance is an essential part of this position., * Provide advanced LAN/WAN design.
  • Provide installation and troubleshooting techniques to state agencies in areas of network voice, video, and data convergence.
  • Document changes or additions to all network designs and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot computer systems and connectivity issues.
  • Configure and install routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other related equipment.
  • Implement various statewide network projects involving connectivity to various state, federal, or other external entities.
  • Operate diagnostic and\or monitoring tools to identify and provide problem resolution for critical statewide connectivity.
  • Provides assistance and coordination of level two support.
  • Serves as an escalation point for lower-level engineers in the group.
  • Performs troubleshooting configuration and design work for Data Center Cloud and Core infrastructure.
  • Performs troubleshooting, configuration and design work for equipment that impacts multiple agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Wireless networking?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Training: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Substitution: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time personal computer or server LAN/WANT paid experience may be substituted for the required training on a year for year basis. OR Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience as a Information System Specialist 3 in the State of West Virginia. OR Successful completion of twelve (12) credit hours or the equivalent industry recognized authorized/certified LAN/WAN administration may be substituted for one year of training. OR Network service/support and/or network technologies training may substitute for one year of the required training requirement. Experience: Nine years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in information processing field, of which; two years of experience must be in: local area network administration and support or networking standalone/ mainframe, minicomputer, and LAN/WAN connectivity; or of which two years of experience must be in installation of hardware and software, support, and or training. Substitution: Twelve (12) hours of computer science or data processing may substitute for one year of information system experience excluding PC and LAN administration support.
