Job description
The Systems Specialist is responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining the district’s enterprise communication infrastructure and core identity management platforms. This role ensures reliable, secure daily operations of district-wide phone systems, eFax accounts, and user identity lifecycles across multiple directories. This position reports to the Director(s) of Technology Services., * Configure district VoIP phone systems, including extensions, voicemail setup, caller ID, long-distance access, and one-touch office dialing.
- Maintain accurate 911 emergency calling data and IP location mapping.
- Coordinate and manage emergency line transfers when necessary.
- Partner with district and building administrators in crisis situations to ensure communication systems are working properly.
- Complete internal and external phone activity reporting.
- Manage district-wide electronic fax (eFax) services.
- Assist with routing notifications from the district’s anonymous tip system to appropriate departments.
- Provide remote technical support for staff and students.
- Manage staff and student onboarding and offboarding in a variety of systems including Active Directory, Google Workspace, and other district applications.
- Conduct periodic reviews of user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Assist with password management and account security procedures.
- Monitor alerts and notifications generated by the district’s security operations and monitoring platforms.
- Maintain accurate staff contact information.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities in order to enhance skills.
- Assist in planning, testing, and deploying new technologies, communication systems, and software solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff.
- Maintain a positive, supportive, and willing attitude while working with staff.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the Director(s) of Technology Services.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience on using various Active Directory tools, including, but not limited to, user and security group management and understanding of organizational unit structure.
- High School Diploma, Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred.
- Windows, Macintosh, and Chrome platforms proficiency.

A person working in this position will exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally while carrying, pushing, and/or pulling to move objects. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unaided and may lift over 50 pounds with the assistance of another person and/or a lift assist. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and significant fine finger dexterity.
Benefits & conditions
The salary range for the position is: Min $68,972.80 - Max $71,052.80 Salary placement will be at step 1 on the appropriate scale for the position. Previous relevant experience may result in higher step placement within the posted range.
A typical work year consists of 260 days which includes 13 paid holidays. The individual number of days may vary by position as posted. Employees working less than 260 days will receive holiday pay for the scheduled holidays within the months worked. Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. A maximum of three (3) days of annual leave are provided for all employees based on the employee’s scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours. Unused Annual Leave is cashed out every July. Full-Time Employees working year-round (260 days) shall accumulate up to 25 Days (200 hours) of vacation annually. Up to 40 hours may be cashed out annually in July if the balance is above 240 hours. Balances over 280 hours as of July 1 will be forfeited prior to the new year’s accrual.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
