Job description

A manufacturing client is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to join their team as the primary on-site infrastructure and production support resource at a new Utah facility. This individual will provide front-line IT support for both office users and the production floor, ensuring uninterrupted operation of manufacturing systems, machinery connectivity, and production data flow. The role focuses on network setup, monitoring servers and infrastructure, troubleshooting connectivity between PLCs, scanners, testers, and servers, and maintaining accurate documentation and schematics. The engineer will manage incidents and requests, act as the single point of contact for the site, and provide on-site support during planned maintenance or unplanned production downtime as needed. This is a full-time, fully on-site role in Utah, supporting a growing user base, with occasional overtime during launches, rare early-stage weekend work, and a salary range of 90-100k.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of IT infrastructure experience (mid-level; not junior, not overly senior)

  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing or production environments

  • Strong networking experience (switches, cabling, firewalls, connectivity)

  • Experience supporting production line equipment and workstations

  • Ability to troubleshoot connectivity between PLCs, testers, scanners, servers, and networked equipment

  • Experience ensuring machine and equipment data flows into production systems (e.g., PMS)

  • Comfortable acting as the single point of contact (SPOC) for site IT infrastructure

  • Experience monitoring uptime for servers, storage, backups, and network devices

  • Strong documentation skills (network mapping, layouts, schematics)

  • Experience with ticketing systems, incident tracking, and escalations

Willingness to work fully on-site with occasional overtime, including rare evenings or weekends * Experience standing up IT infrastructure at a new or greenfield manufacturing site

  • Prior support of hundreds of machines or industrial equipment

  • Telecommunications or engineering background

  • Familiarity with Production Management Systems (PMS)

  • Experience supporting ~15 to 25 on-site users

  • Degree in IT, Engineering, or related field (preferred, not required)

  • Experience coordinating with remote infrastructure teams at other sites
