Job description
AdaptiveVets Solutions is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to design, implement, maintain, and optimize enterprise cloud platform services for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)., * Design, implement, and maintain AWS GovCloud platform services including EKS, VPC architecture, IAM, Route53, load balancing, ElastiCache, RDS, DocumentDB, Kinesis, MSK, Athena, and S3.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for all environment provisioning and automated infrastructure operations.
- Design and maintain multi-region architectures, cross-VPC connectivity, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Support Istio service mesh configuration, event-driven architectures, and enterprise integration service operations.
- Monitor platform performance trends, identify optimization opportunities, and improve resiliency and cost efficiency.
- Ensure all platform components comply with Federal security, operational, and availability requirements including VA TRM and NIST standards.
- Execute post-deployment production validation testing to confirm service stability after all changes.
- Support automated configuration drift detection, remediation, and IaC governance processes.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call operations and incident response.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field (4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute)
- 8+ years of hands-on cloud platform engineering experience in AWS environments
- Expert knowledge of AWS GovCloud services including EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, Route53, RDS, DocumentDB, ElastiCache, Kinesis, MSK, and S3
- Proficiency with Terraform IaC, platform automation, and automated environment provisioning
- Experience designing multi-region architectures, cross-VPC connectivity, and disaster recovery strategies
- Familiarity with Istio service mesh and event-driven architectures
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT (Required)
Experience:
- AWS cloud platform engineering: 8 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Preferred)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) (Preferred)
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (Preferred)
- CompTIA Security+ (Preferred)
