Job description
AdaptiveVets Solutions is seeking a Systems Engineer to implement and maintain enterprise cloud infrastructure and platform services supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
This role provides hands-on engineering support for AWS EKS, managed services, and supporting platform components, ensuring platform reliability and operational continuity., * Implement and maintain AWS EKS clusters, EC2-based services, RDS, DocumentDB, Kinesis, MSK, Consul, Vault, and Active Directory.
- Perform day-to-day platform engineering tasks including node management, cluster operations, storage management, and networking configuration.
- Support PKI operations, certificate management, and secrets rotation in compliance with platform security requirements.
- Execute Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) configurations, environment provisioning, and automated infrastructure management.
- Monitor platform health, remediate configuration drift, and ensure all components meet availability and performance standards.
- Support post-deployment production validation testing to confirm all changes maintain service stability.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for platform operations support and incident response.
- Maintain documentation for platform configurations, SOPs, and operational runbooks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field (4 additional years of relevant experience may substitute)
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise cloud infrastructure engineering
- Experience with AWS EKS, EC2, RDS, DocumentDB, Kinesis, MSK, and related managed services
- Familiarity with Consul, Vault, Active Directory, and PKI operations in enterprise cloud environments
- Experience with Terraform IaC for environment provisioning and management
- Ability to support 24x7 operational requirements and on-call rotations
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator or equivalent
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
- Familiarity with Dynatrace, Splunk, and enterprise monitoring platforms
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or IT (Required)
Experience:
- Enterprise cloud infrastructure engineering: 7 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- AWS Certified SysOps Administrator (Preferred)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) (Preferred)
- CompTIA Security+ (Preferred)
