Job description
Hanson Bridgett is seeking an experienced Docketing Specialist to join the firm’s Docketing Team. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Legal Operations and under the guidance of the General Counsel, this role supports the Risk Management Department in minimizing firm risk and delivering exceptional service to attorneys, staff, clients, firm managers, and vendors.
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the option to work remotely on days when in-person attendance is not required, subject to supervisor approval. The role requires California residency and will be designated to one of Hanson Bridgett’s five office locations. Remote employees must be available for in-person meetings and office functions as needed.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Support both litigation and transactional docketing functions.
- Determine docket and calendar dates from court documents and correspondence, and enter data accurately into the Compulaw docket calendar system; apply knowledge of applicable court rules to calculate deadlines and assess their downstream effects on related case matters.
- Ensure all daily and weekly reports are completed and distributed through MyView.
- Produce printed calendars and docket schedules for attorneys and relevant non-attorney staff.
- Research, maintain, and communicate updates to court rules, changes in laws, and court requirements with the team and attorneys.
- Serve as backup to the Senior Docket/Systems Specialist for new hire orientations, MyView system setup, and software troubleshooting.
Requirements
- 4+ years of docketing experience, with substantial litigation and trial knowledge.
- Strong proficiency in Compulaw/MyView or a comparable docketing system; familiarity with Aderant’s Milana Docketing System is a plus.
- Solid knowledge of Federal, State, and Local court rules and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal, telephone, and written communication skills.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proven ability to produce accurate, high-quality work consistently, including under pressure.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to process complex orders, anticipate cascading deadline effects, and exercise sound independent judgment.
- Flexibility to work overtime or adjust hours as necessary to meet business needs.

The annual salary for this California based role is anticipated to be in the area of $75,000.00 - $85,000.00. and represents the firm’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Actual compensation is negotiable, and will depend upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s years of experience, qualifications, and skill set.
