Job description

We are seeking a Data Center Technician to support the operation and maintenance of critical facility infrastructure in a mission-critical data center environment. This role is responsible for monitoring building systems, performing routine inspections, supporting preventive maintenance activities, and responding to equipment alarms to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.

This position will initially train on the day shift and requires working in an active construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Monitoring Systems (EMS) for alarms and operating conditions.
  • Conduct equipment walkthroughs and record operational readings.
  • Monitor and inspect:
  • Chillers
  • Cooling towers
  • Pumps
  • Valves
  • Heat exchangers
  • Liquid cooling systems
  • Fire protection systems
  • Medium- and low-voltage switchgear
  • UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems
  • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • Backup generators and transfer switches
  • Battery systems
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and support equipment commissioning and upgrades.
  • Respond to alarms and escalate issues as needed.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors while ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and inspection documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and established maintenance procedures.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, critical facilities, commercial HVAC, electrical maintenance, or data center operations.
  • Experience working in a critical environment where uptime is essential.
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS), SCADA, or similar monitoring systems.
  • Experience performing equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to equipment alarms.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to escalate issues appropriately.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office., * Experience with commercial HVAC systems.
  • Experience with UPS, switchgear, generators, PDUs, or electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience with BMS or EMS monitoring systems.
  • HVAC certification or Electrician license is a plus.
  • Trade school or technical training preferred.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or trade school education is preferred.
