Job description

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Routing, assists with the facilitation of computer systems for the purpose of establishing/tracking school bus routes and student ridership as well as other required reports ensuring that such routes provide for the safe transportation of students to and from all schools in the district., * Assists with maintenance of Edulog Server(s); developing and administering in-service training on the use of the computerized routing system and related systems.

  • Assists with coordinating the district wide transportation needs of the routing system with the various planned Regional Transportation Satellite Centers.
  • Assists with the supervision and maintenance of the geo-code mapping
  • Assists with creating GIS maps
  • Assists coordination with Data Processing, the student data exchange between ESchool Plus and Edulog.
  • Assists with providing the necessary data for boundary planning and redistricting project
  • Assists with department TEA annual reports
  • Supports campus and administrative staff with computerized school boundary address system.
  • Responsible for distribution of bus route and attendance boundary information to parents.
  • Create and update bus routes and directions.
  • Counsel with drivers concerning routes and directions.
  • Assists with monitoring all DISD vehicles utilizing GPS/EduTracker; provides reports as needed.
  • Coordinates bus service for DISD Teen Parent and McKinney Vento students; includes bus assignment and communication with the Social Services Department and Drivers.
  • Coordinates bus service for Special Programs such as: 21^st Century, Leadership, Bridge Builders, Activity Shuttles, Job Coaching Program, Fred Moore Shuttles, ATC Shuttles, Geometry Shuttles and any other special transportation needed.
  • IT services such as: minor problems to any equipment before sending in a heat ticket. Installing programs as needed to computers in our department as well as Navo Dispatch office.
  • Performs other duties related to general administrative responsibilities of the position.

Requirements

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent required

Class B Commercial Driver License with passenger and air brake endorsement

TEA Bus Driver Certification preferred

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years related experience and/or training; Minimum of three (3) years work experience in the Operation section of a school bus transportation department, municipal transportation department, or school district OR two (2) years experience in computer systems, including knowledge of computerized routing procedures; Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills; Ability to maintain confidentiality, works well with employees, management and general public is essential., Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interprets policy, procedures and data; coordinates district functions; maintains emotional control under stress., Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling. Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions. Work outside and inside with exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) and weather conditions; moderate exposure to vehicle fumes; work irregular hours as needed.
