Job description

Larson Architecture Works PLLC is a boutique architecture firm in midtown Manhattan with a varied practice in high-quality residential, retail, and institutional projects. Led by Principal Doug Larson, the firm has a strong foundation in contextual design, and the work spans historicism to modernism. We seek to solve problems in creative, thoughtful, and effective ways for our clients.

We are continuing to build a team and welcome applications from architects and designers who will work seamlessly with clients and fellow co-workers to realize projects with the highest standards.

There is an immediate need for a full-time Intermediate Architect/Designer with 5 to 10 years’ experience.

This position will require knowledge of many conventional aspects of architectural practice with an emphasis on Construction Documents. Working with a Project Manager/Project Architect, the Intermediate Architect/Designer will take 100% Schematic Design and early Design Development drawings into Construction Documents. They will organize sets of drawings, possibly on multiple projects of moderate size and complexity simultaneously. They will work with the Principal/Project Managers and Business Manager to tailor each set of drawings to the scope, budget, and fee of the project at hand and the delivery method appropriate to the project. They will incorporate best practices in the construction industry, red-mark drawings already produced, generate additional necessary documents, oversee Junior production staff as the drawings are developed, and be responsible for quality control in the content and appearance of the documents. Some early involvement in design and some involvement during construction may be beneficial depending on the project.

An Intermediate Architect/Designer will:

  • Produce and coordinate Construction Documents
  • Manage Consultant Communication along with the Project Manager/Project Architect
  • Work independently but direct junior staff as needed
  • Be conversant with appropriate codes and adjust documents to reflect code requirements
  • Problem solve and apply their knowledge of construction detailing

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture, BArch, March, or Architectural Technology
  • Strong AutoCAD skills are a must
  • Familiar with construction detailing and construction types
  • Strong visual and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to confidently work with team and managers on multiple projects

Benefits & conditions

Salary range for this position is $70K to $100K per year depending on experience.
