Job description

Our client is a global technology organization that develops advanced solutions supporting a highly innovative manufacturing environment. They are seeking a IT Systems Engineer to join their Infrastructure team and help support a modern enterprise environment spanning on-premises data centers and hybrid cloud technologies., Position Summary The Mid-Level IT Systems Engineer will support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the organization’s enterprise infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of core systems while participating in infrastructure modernization projects, technology upgrades, disaster recovery planning, and operational support.

Success in this role requires strong technical troubleshooting skills, a collaborative mindset, and a desire to continually learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain enterprise server, virtualization, and infrastructure platforms.
  • Support VMware vSphere, ESXi, and virtual server environments.
  • Manage Microsoft Windows Server infrastructure including:
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • DNS
  • MECM (Configuration Manager)
  • SCOM
  • Support Cisco UCS, HyperFlex, or comparable converged infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain enterprise backup, replication, and disaster recovery technologies.
  • Assist with Microsoft Azure administration and hybrid cloud services.
  • Support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environments.
  • Perform server patching, upgrades, system maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Monitor infrastructure health and proactively identify performance or availability issues.
  • Troubleshoot production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh projects.
  • Work closely with Networking, Security, Applications, and Global Infrastructure teams.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Support disaster recovery exercises and business continuity initiatives.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation supporting enterprise production systems.

Requirements

This position is ideal for an infrastructure professional with several years of hands-on experience who is looking to broaden their technical expertise while working alongside senior engineers on enterprise-scale systems and infrastructure initiatives., * Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 3+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Experience administering Microsoft Windows Server.
  • Experience supporting VMware virtualization platforms.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Active Directory
  • Group Policy
  • DNS
  • Enterprise Windows services
  • Experience with enterprise server hardware or converged infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise backup and recovery solutions.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure or other cloud platforms.
  • Basic experience supporting Citrix environments.
  • Understanding of enterprise infrastructure including servers, storage, virtualization, networking, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including international travel as needed.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call support rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Microsoft certifications (Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory, etc.)
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • CCNA or similar networking certification
  • Experience with Azure hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience supporting enterprise backup and disaster recovery platforms
  • PowerShell or Python scripting experience
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and enterprise monitoring tools
  • Experience supporting global enterprise organizations
  • Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus
