TS/SCI Lead Software Engineer

A client of Insight Global is seeking 2 TS/SCI-cleared Lead Software Engineers to spearhead a new mission-focused initiative at Patrick Space Force Base. This individual will serve as the technical leader across software and infrastructure teams, driving architecture, development, and deployment of mission-critical applications in a classified environment. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient solutions in AWS while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including system engineers, cyber teams, and mission stakeholders. The candidate will lead full lifecycle development efforts, including coding, testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipeline management. The ideal candidate will engage directly with customers on a daily basis, supporting API user groups, troubleshooting issues, and translating operational needs into technical solutions. This person should be comfortable managing competing priorities, aligning development work with contract scope, and delivering clear technical briefings and documentation. Key responsibilities include architecting cloud-native solutions, integrating distributed systems, developing backend services and APIs, and ensuring applications meet performance, scalability, and security standards. This role also requires adapting to dynamic mission demands and contributing to evolving technical roadmaps. Experience working in classified DoD environments and transitioning research or prototype technologies into operational tools is highly preferred. The candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and capable of leading both strategy and execution.

Active TS/SCI clearance CompTIA Security+ (or DoD IAT Level II cert, or ability to obtain within 6 months) 7-10+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent) Strong AWS experience (deploying and maintaining cloud applications) Experience with backend development (Python, Java, Node.js, .NET, or similar) Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control, and DevSecOps practices Experience with APIs, microservices, and distributed systems Ability to work onsite and interact directly with customers regularly Technical leadership experience guiding engineering teams

Experience with AI/ML-enabled applications or AI-assisted development tools Frontend development experience (React, Angular, Vue, TypeScript) Experience with Docker, Kubernetes (K8s), and containerization Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB, or similar databases Agile/Scrum experience (user stories, sprint planning, etc.) Experience supporting classified DoD environments or mission systems Background in scientific or sensor-based data (geophysical, seismic, acoustic, etc.) Experience transitioning prototypes/R&D tools into operational systems
