Job description

The Surveillance Deployment Technician is responsible for configuring, testing, deploying, troubleshooting, and documenting VigilanteX mobile surveillance systems.

This is a hands-on technical and field-based role requiring strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. The technician ensures that systems are fully operational before deployment and continue to perform reliably in the field.

The position is part-time for up to 30 hours per week. The schedule will vary depending on deployment activity, and some weeks may require more hours than others.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Deployment Setups

· Configure and test surveillance units prior to field deployment

· Ensure full functionality of hardware and software components

· Set up network configurations, including Starlink and NVR systems

Unit Deployments

· Lead and execute mobile surveillance unit deployments in the field

· Install, align, and verify connectivity of all system components

· Document all deployment information for records and future reference

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

· Diagnose and resolve technical issues remotely and on-site

· Support network, power, and camera-related troubleshooting

· Assist field technicians and clients with issue resolution

Tracking & Logging

· Log deployments, issues, and resolutions in tracking systems

· Maintain accurate inventory and asset records

Documentation & Process Improvement

· Develop and update SOPs and Knowledge Base articles

· Create internal and client training materials

· Continuously refine deployment and support processes

Additional Responsibilities

· Document hardware serial numbers

· Assist in inventory audits and special technical projects

· Perform field inspections to ensure system compliance and performance

Requirements

Required:

· Technical background in IT, networking, or electronics

· Strong troubleshooting skills (hardware/software)

· Familiarity with surveillance systems, networking, and power systems

· Ability and willingness to travel locally and out of state for deployments and field work, including overnight and multi-day travel as business needs require

· Excellent documentation and organizational skills

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Strong mechanical aptitude

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift and move equipment up to 75 lbs

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

· Comfortable working at heights when required

Preferred:

· Experience with solar, Starlink, Victron, or similar technologies

· Knowledge of mobile/remote surveillance solutions

· Experience in creating SOPs or training materials, * Hands-on experience with advanced surveillance, networking, solar, and AI-powered technologies.
