Alongside management responsibilities, the role requires a strong technical individual who is comfortable acting as the senior on-site engineer, providing Level 2 support, resolving complex incidents, and supporting major events and match days.

This position would suit someone looking to take ownership of an IT operation while remaining technically involved and hands-on. Due to the nature of the venue, flexible working patterns will apply to ensure IT coverage during events and match days., IT Operations & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee all day-to-day IT operations across the CBS Arena.

  • Plan and coordinate infrastructure upgrades, maintenance activities, and technology projects.
  • Manage relationships with third-party suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Monitor service performance and ensure agreed service levels are achieved.

Team Leadership & Resource Management

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to on-site IT engineers.
  • Manage team workload, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate IT support coverage for events, conferences, and match days.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and development planning.

Technical Support & Engineering

  • Provide hands-on Level 2 support across desktop, infrastructure, cloud, and networking technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated technical incidents.
  • Manage Active Directory and Entra ID environments.
  • Configure and troubleshoot switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, VLANs, VPNs, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor system health, backups, security alerts, and infrastructure performance.
  • Perform patching, maintenance, and system optimisation.
  • Provide on-site IT support during live events and match days as required.
  • Document solutions, maintain accurate records, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a senior IT support, infrastructure, or technical leadership role.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising technical teams.
  • Strong Level 2/3 troubleshooting experience.
  • Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams).
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, and Entra ID administration.
  • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).
  • Networking experience including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, switching, and firewall technologies.
  • Backup and disaster recovery experience.
  • Experience managing IT projects and infrastructure improvements.
  • Excellent stakeholder and supplier management skills.

Personal Attributes

  • Strong organisational and resource-planning skills.
  • Confident and professional when dealing with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proactive, hands-on approach with a willingness to lead from the front.
  • Flexible and adaptable to support event and match day operations., This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who wants to step into a management position without losing the technical aspects of the job.
